February 2011 Edition
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sunday training is back in full swing
The end of year break has come and gone. Training this year has resumed with great enthusiasm and excellent attendance. Since the email requesting more volunteers join the roster, the roster list has grown. Still, more volunteers are needed to sign up. So, please either respond by email (hit reply) or speak to Ellis to have your name added to the roster.

Orange Colour Running Festival
A large contingent of 16 from Achilles will be heading out west to Orange NSW this weekend for the running and walking festival. There is a 4 km walk/run, a 10 km run and a half marathon. Stand by for reports and pictures of the weekend in the upcoming full newsy Achilles Heel (as opposed to this mini newsletter).

Injury corner:

Michael is on the recovery road - once again
Michael Bassil, one of the longest standing members of Achilles and the most frequent attendee of Sunday training for the last 2 years, is recovering from surgery to his parotid (cheek) gland. Despite being in obvious discomfort, he has been coming to Sunday training and showing his wonderful spirit and committment that we have become used to.

Ted is hobbling
Ted Magen managed to break a bone in his foot which has meant that he is immobilized in a boot and out of action for while.

John is back
John McIntyre is back at training following his shoulder surgery. He is yet to show us if he can do a hand stand, but certainlyhas recovered enough to guide.

No cartwheels (yet) from Ellis
Not wanting to miss out, yours truly is also making a splendid recovery from shoulder and bilateral hernia surgery in December. Jogging and swimming - yes. Cartwheels and tennis - not yet!

We wish all of our injured and recovering from injury members a very speedy return to full health!

Future events
If there is an event which you think is suitable for yourself and/or our members, please do let us know (as usual, contact us through the Club email address - info@achilles-sydney.org.au or speak with a committee member at Sunday training).

A reminder to everyone who brings a car to Sunday training - please make sure that you display a parking permit.  Get one from Ellis at Sunday training.

These are  (usually) available at Sunday training. Caps ($10), T-shirts with the yellow sleeves ($10), club singlets ($20), sloppy-joes ($30), old club t-shirts (all white) ($5) for those who are keen on having a collector's item.
